    Purpose of Role

     

    The coordinator’s main responsibility is to ensure all VOD content is provided to client platforms reviewed and compliant with UK / South African classification guidelines.

     

    Responsibilities

    Role and Responsibilities

    • Viewing VOD content (in-house promos, trailers, films, TV series) according to predefined standards (Platform requirements, local regulations and Ofcom/Atvod code where applicable), assure quality to Vubiquity’s standards and deliver content compliant and risk-free for client platforms.
    • Creating compliance reports, listing justifications for assigned age ratings and content advice
    • Writing content summaries in English
    • Monitoring and updating work orders in a timely manner
    • To carry out ad hoc tasks when requested by Supervisor or Services Manager

    Qualifications

    Experience Required

    • Demonstrable skill in compliance reviewing
    • General understanding to what is culturally acceptable from a compliance point of view, experience with South African sensibilities and sensitivities or local government / regulatory rules in Southern Africa regarding content broadcast is a plus
    • General understanding of Ofcom and ATVOD codes and knowledge of classification guidelines such as BBFC (UK) and FPB (South Africa) is a plus
    • Experience in a quality assurance role/department within a broadcast/VOD environment of at least 1 year
    • Experience of working to deadlines, often with a tight turnaround period
    • Some understanding of digital media technologies (preferably VOD) including, encoding standards and tools, automated quality control tools
    • Experience with common office applications (such as MS Word, MS Excel) and use of line of business operational applications

     

     

    Skills Required

    • High degree of computer literacy, with an aptitude for learning new technology and software.
    • Knowledge of Avid or any editing software knowledge is a plus
    • Experience in broadcast or VOD environment
    • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
    • Effective time management and multi-tasking skills
    • Able to review content and apply a compliance standpoint, not a personal position
    • Capable of spotting issues, plots or themes that may cause offense
    • Ability to review content onscreen for long periods without losing concentration
    • Comfortable with making own compliance judgements and contextualise and communicate that decision in a confident manner
    • Ability to work unsupervised and make decisions without Manager Approval
    • Understanding of digital media technologies such as encoding standards and tools, automated quality control, asset delivery, “tapeless” environment
    • Ability to work well under pressure
    • Ability to make clear decisions and communicate and document decisions made clearly
    • Ability to work on own initiative and proactively prevent problems from occurring
    • Ability to work independently and as part of the team
    • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
    • Meticulous attention to detail
