  • Overview

    To ingest from tape or media file, quality assure, and deliver content destined for Vubiquity’s client platforms.

     

    To accept media from content suppliers, identify correct subsequent processing required, ingest (encode and transcode) media, quality assure content through means of tools and visual inspection and deliver said content by electronic and physical means to Vubiquity’s customers.

    Responsibilities

    • Operate encoding and transcoding equipment to ingest content
    • Operate audio processing equipment to correct problems and enforce compliance to audio standards
    • Operate automated and visual QA tools to identify visual and audio and technical problems with encoded content
    • To provide visual content acceptance upon supplier delivery and report on, consistency within supplier delivered media (tapes and files)
    • To provide correct and timely escalation of observed content discrepancies, reporting all cases in the discrepancy database
    • To provide correct and timely escalation of any mechanical or configuration anomalies in the QA hard/software, reporting all cases in the discrepancy database
    • To operate FTP and other electronic file delivery tools to deliver encoded content to Vubiquity’s customers
    • To manage the use of the discrepancy reporting tool within the Media Ingest & QA team

    Qualifications

    Experience Required

    • Experience in a quality assurance role/department within a broadcast/VOD environment or MCR environment of at least 1 year
    • Experience operating, or technical awareness of, modern ingest tools in a broadcast or post production environment, including tape decks and encoding/transcoding systems
    • Experience operating, or technical awareness of, automated quality monitoring tools in a broadcast or post production environment
    • A good level of competence in common office applications (such as MS Word, MS Excel).
    • Understanding of digital media quality standards, with a grounding in broadcast standards as presented by OFCOM (any other regionally specific standard knowledge would be an advantage, but not a necessity)
    • Some understanding of digital media technologies including encoding standards and tools, automated quality control tools
    • Ability to identify encoding artefacts & colour problems
    • Excellent organisational and interpersonal skills
    • Ability to work unsupervised on occasions
    • Problem root cause analysis and problem solving skills
    • High degree of computer literacy

    Skills Required

    Working Hours

    • Working hours are equivalent to Monday – Friday, 09:30 – 18:00
    • There will be 24x7 shift work.
    • There will be the requirement to work some weekends and bank holidays.
    • There may be the requirement to work on client site.
